On April 14-15, 2022 the National Academy of Medicine’s Committee on Emerging Science, Technology, and Innovation (CESTI) held a virtual workshop to publicly launch a consensus study focused on Creating a Framework for Emerging Science, Technology, and Innovation in Health and Medicine, which will provide guidance for how to manage the risks, benefits, and ethical and societal implications of new technologies.
The National Academy of Medicine established CESTI to bring together experts to assess the landscape of emerging technologies in health and medicine, with the goal of developing a cross-sectoral governance framework. At the Virtual Workshop, Jenny Reardon (director of the Science & Justice Research Center) presented about the integration of principles of equity and justice into STEM research practices.
